The fruit for this Pinot Grigio is sourced from a single vineyard in Kuitpo in the southern Adelaide Hills. The unequivocally cool climate and very old podzolic soils over a quartz base of low to moderate fertility make for ideal growing conditions, giving the Adelaide Hills an enviable reputation for premium white grapes.
Due to the ideal growing season during January and February, the 2017 vintage has delivered exceptional quality and flavour.
Made in a Pinot Grigio style, grapes were selected for harvest when berries displayed optimal flavour and intensity. This parcel was harvested in the cool of the evening and immediately crushed at the winery to minimise colour pick up from the pink grape skins. Juice was cold settled then racked with light solids for fermentation. Post fermentation, the wine was lees stirred in tank to encourage mouthfeel and complexity.
Lifted floral notes with baking spice, nashi pear and red apple, the palate is loaded with flavour, texture and a delicious acid crunch.This is a delicate and flavoursome style of wine and is beautifully suited to any occasion.
